The new Firefox Jacket from Mountain Equipment uses ground breaking GORE-TEX Active Shell fabric combined with shell expertise to provide the perfect waterproof hardshell for fast moving, done-in-a-day activities. Weighing in at just xxxg (for a size medium), the Firefox is one of the lightest Gore-Tex Pro Shell waterproofs on the planet. The highly breathable three layer Pro Shell fabric ensures that you will stay dry from both inside and out. The new version of Pro Shell has a mere 20-denier fabric, which partly accounts for the weight saving. The Pro Shell backer itself is also light in weight, and the combination of this and some minimalist features keeps the load on the scales to a minimum.
Mountain Equipment's Firefox Jacket has an active cut. While it's not as long as something like ME's Kongur Jacket, the Firefox is medium short rather than waist-length. The articulated and pre-shaped sleeves ensure that it doesn't compromise freedom of movement. The hood of the Firefox Jacket is fully and easily adjustable, compatible with a helmet and has a wired and stiffened peak.
SUMMARY
Mountain Equipment's Firefox jacket is a genuinely lightweight jacket offering good protection with a small pack size. Perfect for ultra-lightweight alpine use but tough enough to last the distance.
